Ali Yarici is a guitarist, composer, (currently based in The Hague) born in 2004 in Istanbul, Turkey, where he spent most of his childhood. As a child, he played piano and drums, but at the age of 11 he discovered a passion for the guitar and began learning rock, blues, and funk music through jam sessions.
At the age of 13, he moved to Athens, where he attended an international middle and high school. It was there that his interest in art and jazz deepened, and he began studying jazz guitar under the guidance of local legend Yiotis Samaras.
Later, Yarici moved to the Netherlands to study at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague with guitarists Martijn Van Iterson and Ella Zirina. He is currently completing his bachelor’s degree. While living in The Hague, he developed a deep interest in the sound of ECM, 20th-century composers, and Scandinavian free improvisation. This increasingly inspired him to focus on composition.
